In order to properly provide an inclusive space and to ensure that all staff have an understanding of the concepts of equity, inclusion, diversity and allyship with the 2SLGBTQ+ population, it will be necessary to arrange some form of formal training. This can be through a group session, individual online sessions or individual study.

Making the changes to showcase your inclusive pharmacy without the formal training, without the background knowledge of this unique group of people, can lead to trauma. For example, if you put up a few Progressive Pride Flag stickers around your store entrance but do not address the transphobia that may unconsciously or consciously exist in your work culture, this will only serve to confuse and hurt the transgender individual who enters your space and assumes that it is safe.
